With the shifting of the Community Quarantine guidelines, many have already gone to their most-frequented malls to visit their favorite restaurants and shop in their favorite stores.

Re-opening of salons and dine-in restaurants

With people eager to have their hair cut after being in quarantine for almost three months, salons in Ortigas Malls finally opened their doors to mall goers with strict sanitary measures and 50% capacity, making more room for those who are in need of a haircut, hair recoloring, or a pedicure.

Well-loved restaurants in Ortigas malls such as Kimpura, Gloria Maris, Manam and Wildflour have already started accepting dine-in customers. They don’t only provide safe dine-in options with acrylic dividers and observe allowed maximum capacity with social distancing, but also offer exciting deals to guests!

Cashless Parking and Car Wash Service

Customers can now enjoy worry-free parking transactions as they visit Ortigas Malls as payment is made more convenient with PayMaya terminals accepting Bancnet, Mastercard & Visa cards.

You can even save time by getting a car wash while completing your shopping with Greenhills’ Shop N’ Wash. Mall-goers can request for the carwash service upon entering the parking ground of Greenhills Mall.

Click & Collect and My Personal Shopper Online Services

For those who prefer to order online and pick up their own goods, they can still do it safely by collecting all their essential needs from designated pick-up areas through the Click & Collect program available in Greenhills, Tiendesitas, and Estancia from 9AM -8PM daily.

For those who need extra help in shopping for essentials or completing transactions, Ortigas Malls partnered with MyKuya app to provide personal shopping services for its patrons. Through the app, you can easily pay your bills, shop for your groceries, medicines, food and other essentials from Greenhills, Tiendesitas and Estancia at the safety of your homes.

Catch your favorite sellers at Live Studio

In an effort to support all tenants as they bounce back from the health crisis, Ortigas Malls is providing an avenue for them to maximize their online presence through the Live Studio  – a content creation

hub located inside the mall for all tenants to showcase different products and explain their features in a live feed. Each studio will be equipped with a complete camera and lighting setup for them to shoot their updates, latest deals and newest products that consumers can watch safely at home.

Active Playground for a healthier shopping experience

Greenhills will also be pioneering the launch of an Active Playground that promotes a convenient space for bikers, joggers and people who want to have a leisurely workout throughout the day!

Greenhills will have dedicated bike lanes and bike parking with signages placed throughout the complex to guide bikers and to lead them to the designated parking spaces where they can lock their bikes before shopping. For those that bike for fitness, every day from 6 AM to 8 AM, Greenhills will be implementing “Bike Priority” lanes for bikers.

To encourage mall goers to stay fit and active while going around, there will be pop-up challenges in different areas of the mall, encouraging patrons to jump, hop, balance and have fun.

PLDT partners with PBSP to provide food packs and vitamins to families in Malabon and Cebu

PLDT Inc. recently donated food supplies and vitamins to over 1,000 families in Cebu City and Malabon City adversely affected by the COVID-19 in partnership with the Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP).

"Urban poor families are some of the most vulnerable at any given time, more so in this period of uncertainty and hardship. Thank you to PLDT for choosing to allocate its Motolite PBSP Balik-Baterya funds to support our COVID-19 campaign. The provision of food packs is incredibly important in minimizing the adverse impact of job losses and suspended economic activities. Our communities are grateful for PLDT's generosity and solidarity," said PBSP Deputy Executive Director Elvin Ivan Y. Uy.

Families in Brgy. Mambaling, Cebu City received food packs containing vegetables, crops, onion and garlic and canned goods. Condiments, germicidal soap, as well as Cebuano-translated info sheets about COVID-19 are also included in the food pack donations. In addition, 450 boxes of Vitamin C were also distributed.

To support over 40 farmers and fellow farm laborers, all the vegetables were sourced locally from barangays Tabunan, Gaas and Sudlon 2 in Cebu.

In Malabon City, PLDT distributed food packs containing rice, eggs, dried fish, dressed chicken and vegetables to the indigent families surrounding Catmon Integrated School, which is among the beneficiaries of the Company's school-building programs. The families are from PBSP-assisted homeowners associations.

"PLDT recognizes the power of unity in these trying times, and we are truly grateful for our partnership with the PBSP as well as on-ground organizations in Cebu and Malabon, who enabled us to reach out and touch the lives of these families in need,” said PLDT Community Relations Head Katherine P. Diaz De Rivera.

PLDT’s donations were taken from its Balik-Baterya funds, PBSP’s institutional environmental program which involves the collection, proper recycling and selling of used acid-lead batteries to fund various corporate social responsibility projects. PLDT, as its pioneer supporter, remains to be the Program's top donor.

PLDT and PBSP's efforts to fight COVID-19 goes all the way back at the onset of the Enhanced Community Quarantine, when the Company donated P1M to the Bayanihan Musikahan, which was used to fund food packs for 1,300 families in various underprivileged communities in Metro Manila.

COVID-19 Update: Newfound discovery makes some dishwashing liquids effective home disinfectant.

In response to the global coronavirus pandemic, Japan Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) commissioned the National Institute of Technology and Evaluation (NITE) to look into other options for disinfecting homes and workplaces. This was undertaken to mitigate global alcohol shortage, and cope with the sudden surge in demands of alcohol disinfectant at medical facilities as well as home and workplace environments.

Lab studies conducted by METI/NITE have proven that some cleaning actives also known as surfactants, when used at the right levels, can be effective against SARS-CoV-2 which causes COVID-19. Test findings by Japan’s NITE have confirmed that there is a significant reduction in the virus count on items or surfaces that are exposed to a surfactant diluted to 0.05%-0.2% for twenty seconds to five minutes.

According to the review committee of experts, these seven types of surfactants are commonly found in household products like dishwashing liquids.

-- Sodium linear alkylbenzene sulfonate (0.1% or more);
-- Alkyl glycoside (0.1% or more);
-- Alkylamine oxide (0.05% or more);
-- Benzalkonium chloride (0.05% or more);
-- Benzethonium chloride (0.05% or more) (newly added on May 28, 2020);
-- Dialkyldimethyl ammonium chloride (0.01% or more) (newly added on May 28, 2020); and
-- Polyoxyethylene alkylether (0.2% or more)

With this research confirming more accessible ways to disinfect your homes and workplaces, dishwashing liquids containing these ingredients can benefit Filipinos and serve as a reliable substitute to alcohol-based disinfectant. This would mean convenience and better value for money given the product’s multi-purpose use of disinfecting various items, not just in the kitchen but other household items as well.

Japan METI/NITE recommends the solution ratio of one teaspoon of dishwashing liquid mixed in 500ml water. To sanitize, wipe all items or surfaces with a cloth soaked in this solution. Ensure to squeeze excess liquid out of the cloth to prevent the liquid from dripping. Wipe firmly in one direction to prevent spreading dirt and virus. Leave the items or surfaces to rest with the mixture for about five minutes. Then, wipe off the soap solution with a cloth soaked in water. Finally, wipe dry all items and surfaces with another clean cloth.
