LGEPH, in partnership with Intramuros Administration, showcases history in an entirely different perspective in the newly opened Museo de Intramuros

History was made yet again as the Intramuros Administration (IA), the government agency tasked for the orderly restoration, management, development, and promotion of Intramuros as a national heritage, celebrated its 40th Anniversary in the recently opened Museo de Intramuros.



To celebrate the momentous occasion together with IA, LG Philippines made their presence felt as they simultaneously unveiled their newest line of state of the art OLED TVs, putting side by side our rich and colorful history together with tomorrow’s technology. LG PH Managing Director Inkwun Heo led the festivities as he formally handed over six (6) units of the LG TVs to the museum. Mr. Heo went on to say “This 2019 marks the 70th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the Philippines and the Republic of Korea. Throughout the seven (7) decades of friendship between the 2 nations, we’ve been championing the importance of culture. We at LG Philippines remain committed in doing our part to preserve and showcase Philippine history. We hope that through the integration of our industry leading OLED TV technology with riveting historically significant content, we are able to communicate to audiences, both old and new, the importance of Intramuros and Philippine history as a whole”.

Present during the event was Atty. Guiller Asido, Administrator of the Intramuros Administration, who was ecstatic about the educational possibilities of the TV donations. Referring to the event’s official hashtag #TheTVThatUnderstandsYou, he quips “I would like to rephrase our hashtag, this is not just the TV that understands you — it is the TV that understands the history and culture of the Filipino people.”

Also unveiled during the program was another gift of LG to IA: a special AVP made by TBA Studios, the creative geniuses behind local hit movies Heneral Luna and GOYO. The video which featured Museo De Intramuros was directed by JP Habac with cinematography by Pong Ignacio. Habac and Ignacio were awe-struck with how vivid the color rendition of the LG OLED TVs was. “Every bit of detail is seen the way it’s supposed to be seen. The dynamic range is really something to behold”, says Habac. LG commissioned the video featuring the Department of Tourism Sec. Bernadette Romulo-Puyat and museum curator Dino Santos to showcase the enchanting beauty of Intramuros through its crystal-clear OLED displays. World Vision and Procter & Gamble in partnership with Department of Education Malabon Division Office launched “Pag-asa sa Basura”

In line with the back-to-school season, World Vision and Procter & Gamble (P&G) Philippines together with Department of Education Malabon Division Office launched the “Pag-asa sa Basura” campaign, a sustainable waste collection and recycling system targeting several schools in Metro Manila. The project will be done in 25 chosen schools in Malabon and Quezon City.


The participating schools will be outfitted with school-based materials recovery facilities (MRF) for various solid waste materials including sachet packaging. The students who will be participating in the campaign are encouraged to bring sachets to receive incentives such as school supplies. Furthermore, the profits that will be collected from the MRF will be used for Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WaSH) programs like improvements in their handwashing facilities and WaSH education.


This initiative will not only be benefiting the children but also saving the environment with the goal of preventing at least one million pieces of sachets going to the ocean. Educators, students, and parents will also be trained on the principles of solid waste management specifically recycling.

Official representatives who joined the event were Cynthia Ayles, Schools Division Superintendent/ OIC of DepEd Malabon, Eliseo Raymundo, Head for School Governance and Operations Division, Anna Legarda, Head of Communications of Procter & Gamble, Jun Godornes, Resource Development Director of World Vision Philippines, and Principals from the 20 participating schools in Malabon.

Mastercard and The SM Store promote safer and faster payments via contactless technology

Beginning today until September 30, 2019, Mastercard, in partnership with The SM Store, will run a promotion to encourage shoppers to make payments using their contactless-enabled Mastercard credit cards. The contactless cards can be identified through a symbol on the card face that is similar to the Wi-Fi symbol, albeit turned sideways. Shoppers using the contactless Mastercard credit cards stand a chance to win PhP 1,000-worth of gift cards when they make a one-time purchase worth PhP 3,000.00 or an installment purchase with a total value of PhP 5,000.00.


Though still in its infancy in the Philippines, contactless payments are already widely used in other countries such as Singapore, Australia, and England. Payments via contactless cards are fulfilled by simply tapping the card on a point-of-sale (POS) terminal. For low value transactions, no PIN or signature is required; cardholders can simply Tap & GoTM. Faster checkout lines are now made possible even during The SM Store’s famous 3-Day Sales, thanks to contactless payment technology. Therefore, this payment method is deemed effective in grocery and convenience stores, cinemas and gas stations where long queues can be curtailed through quicker payment transactions.

In the Philippines, transactions beyond Php 2,000 require the cardholder’s signature as a layer of security from unauthorised transactions. It is important to note that shoppers will be billed only once even if they accidentally tap on the point-of-sale terminal multiple times. The EMV chip embedded in the card effectively safeguards card details as it creates dynamic data every time a transaction is made, making it nearly impossible for fraudsters to duplicate or clone the card.

Discover and Dance: Gardenia Teams Up with Groove Central Dance Studio

Beat the rainy days with these laundry hacks

MERALCO RATES DOWN FOR THIRD CONSECUTIVE MONTH.

The Manila Electric Company (Meralco) announced a Php 0.11 per kilowatthour (kWh) reduction in power rates this month. This downward adjustment amounts to around Php 21 in total savings for a typical household consuming 200 kWh per month and represents a total rate decrease of P0.57 per kWh since May 2019.


Meralco Public Information Office Head Joe Zaldarriaga (in photo) explained that the over-all rate reduction this month can be attributed to a lower transmission charge, as well as a decrease in other charges. Last weekend, different types of running pairs-parents and kids, siblings, best friends, workmates, and even neighbors -- took their buddy health goals to the next level as they trooped to Camp Aguinaldo in Quezon city for the 12th Fit & Fun Wellness Buddy Run.
