Defensil Isopropyl Alcohol welcomes Richard Gutierrez, Sarah Lahbati, and kids as brand ambassadors

Defensil 70% Solution Isopropyl Alcohol continues its campaign to be Filipino families’ ally in germ protection in the new normal as they welcome newlyweds, Richard Gutierrez and Sarah Lahbati, together with their adorable kids Zion and Kai, as their brand ambassadors.

Adjusting to the New Normal with Defensil Isopropyl Alcohol

Richard and Sarah, who got married in a solemn ceremony earlier this year, celebrated their new life together in quarantine. While being stuck at home was an opportunity for them to spend more time together as a family—planting, painting and playing all sorts of games, they also needed to go through a lot of adjustments as a family.

One adjustment that they had to do was to look for better ways to protect their family against germs, with the threat of the virus still continuing up until now. They found their newest ally in Defensil 70% Solution Isopropyl Alcohol, which promises a higher level of protection against germs and viruses.

“We believe in innovative products. Not only does Defensil come from a company we trust, Defensil 70% Solution Isopropyl Alcohol is also recommended by experts,” said Sarah.

“And since we use alcohol more frequently to sanitize, I also like how it not only kills germs and bacteria, but also has moisturizer to not dry our skin,” she added.

One way to prevent the spread of germs is regular disinfection of hands and high touch surfaces using a rubbing alcohol. To provide a higher level of defense against germs in the new normal, the Philippine Society for Microbiology is recommending Defensil 70% Solution Isopropyl Alcohol.

Created by Beauty Elements Ventures Inc, Defensil 70% Solution Isopropyl Alcohol kills 99.9% of germs to give Richard and Sarah’s family the peace of mind that they are well-defended. It starts to kill germs on contact and upon constant use, provides up to 12-hour protection.

New Normal Holidays

Celebrating the holidays is surely going to be different for the Gutierrez family this year. For Richard and Sarah, social distancing is something that they’re keeping in mind as they celebrate the holiday season, along with making sure that everyone sanitizes and disinfects using Defensil.

The family wishes to go on a local holiday trip with family bringing their new ally, Defensil. With this, Sarah shares three simple tips to fellow parents on how to keep their family safe from germs during the holiday season.

First, social distancing is a must. Second, always wear a mask. It is important for parents to teach their kids the importance of wearing masks, which help to prevent the transmission of the virus. And, lastly, always disinfect with an alcohol that makes sure you and the family are well-defended— like Defensil Isopropyl Alcohol.

Make cooking your favorite family bonding with Crispy Fry®

Even if families spend most of their time at home, many find that they have become busier than ever. The line between work and home life has blurred, which made it even more difficult for families to bond. However, there are still things that families can easily do to enjoy each other’s company – and cooking is one of them.

To nourish moments at home, Ajinomoto Philippines Corporation (APC) encourages Filipino families to make cooking a family bonding habit. As food plays a huge part in our homes, cooking is a fun activity that families can easily plan and incorporate into their schedule with just the use of the right tools and ingredients.

“There is a big learning curve to the new stay-at-home lifestyle and everyone is adapting as we go. This, along with flexible working hours, means that there is less time for families to spend with one another. Cooking is a fun bonding activity as shared tasks help create stronger bonds among family members. It also makes meals more rewarding because everyone including children can contribute in preparing them,” says Roann Co, APC’s General Manager of Marketing and Public Relations.

For instance, Ajinomoto’s Crispy Fry®, the #1 breading mix brand in the market, makes frying family favorites a breeze. It is made from choice flours and starches perfectly blended with seasonings to help even kitchen beginners turn regular fried chicken and fish into crispy-delicious and isda-licious meals.

For chicken lovers, Crispy Fry® Chicken Breading Mix makes kid-approved fried chicken that’s #Crispanalo. It comes in Original, Garlic, and Spicy flavors, and another that comes with Gravy Mix to be paired with fried chicken. Meanwhile, for fish-loving fans, the new Crispy Fry® Fish Breading Mix makes fried fish crispier and more delicious without the hassle and oil-spills.

These kitchen essentials are part of Ajinomoto’s Eat Well, Live Well promise, which aims to provide good food and better health to Filipino families.

“We encourage families to make the most of the new normal by spending more time together. Through Ajinomoto products such as Crispy Fry®, cooking or frying can be made easier so everyone can join in. As long as everyone is at home together, every day is Family Day,” shares Co.

To know more about Crispy Fry®, visit the Ajinomoto website at ajinomoto.com.ph and the Cookmunity by Ajinomoto Philippines at facebook.com/CookmunitybyAjinomotoPH.

BE A BUDDY TO MOTHER NATURE WITH NESTLE´CHUCKIE’S PAPER STRAWS

Did you know that the Philippines is the top 3 contributor to ocean pollution among all the countries?* Waste in landfills and oceans are piling up due to the surge of waste that increased especially during the pandemic. It is an important time to accelerate our reduction of plastic waste, and to search for recyclable materials. One way to do this is to replace items that have alternatives to plastics, like replacing plastic straws with paper straws which are designed for recycling, so that we can shift towards a more eco-friendly lifestyle.

Embracing these simple choices by parents and children alike can reap benefits, and can help keep the environment clean. This is why Nestle’s Chuckie ready-to-drink chocolate milk is also joining the pursuit to take care of mother nature by replacing plastic straws with paper straws which are 100% food-grade and designed to be recycled!

Using paper straws may take some time to get used to, especially for kids and the young-at-heart who have a habit of chewing on their straws. To help get around some of these new changes, here are some tips on how the whole family can be mother nature’s buddy and how you can get the best paper straw experience:

Starting out with simple individual efforts to embrace small lifestyle changes for the better can definitely add up in the long run. Making the most out of paper straws is one perfect example of how our little acts can help create a greener, cleaner, and more sustainable waste-free future.

Actively choosing to be more environmentally-conscious is something to be proud of, and teaching kids about finding joy in embracing eco-friendly habits is a great lesson best taught at an early age too! So the next time you or the kids want to enjoy a refreshing drink, treat yourselves and mother nature by choosing Chuckie that now comes with paper straws! Together let us do our part and be a buddy to mother nature by recycling and limiting our litter. CREATIVE CHRISTMAS TREE CENTERPIECES BRING JOY TO SM SHOPPERS

It is said that Filipinos began decorating their homes with Christmas trees in the early 1900s, as influenced by our American colonizers.  Earlier, however, Dr. Jose Rizal, our National Hero, introduced and brought the idea about the Christmas tree in his letter to his eldest sister when he was in Berlin in November 1886. He simply described how Christmas is celebrated in Germany and Spain, and how a forest pine tree decorated with glitter, lights, candies and fruit is placed inside the house where everyone celebrates Christmas around it.

Since that time, the Christmas tree has found its place in many Filipino homes. Beyond the display and the ornaments, it has conveyed a message of love, unity, and joy in every member of the family.

SM Aura Premiere

The iconic Christmas tree has also found its way as a creative centerpiece in SM’s malls with artistic renditions in modern and traditional themes.  Some like the Christmas in Bloom at SM Aura Premier, and the Southacular Carnival Christmas at SM Southmall, highlight blooms and fair images, respectively, instead of ornaments.

SM City Clark's Parul Kapampangan

Others highlight the work of artisans in the regions – the lantern makers of Pampanga in SM City Clark’s Parul Kapampangan and indigenous fabrics from local communities – hablon, jusi, piña, abaca, and rattan – at SM City Iloilo.

More than just beautiful centerpieces, these have become symbols of hope, love, and joy during these most challenging times. These have become focal points where we can reconnect with our traditional celebrations, and join the Filipino community in hoping for safer, brighter, and merrier times.

November 11-12 may have been the most difficult days of residents in the towns of San Mateo and Rodriguez in Rizal this 2020 as Typhoon Ulysses left a massive destruction in their communities amid an ongoing pandemic. Violent winds, torrential rain and raging flood inundated houses, businesses and even took helpless lives. Residents fled to safer grounds even while the typhoon is ravaging the area.

True to its mission, the SM Operation Tulong Express is mobilized to bring aid to affected residents as quickly as possible.  Together with Rizal Vice Governor Jun Rey San Juan, the SM City San Mateo team headed by Regional Operations Manager Engr. Dennis Martel and Assistant Mall Manager Sean Arroyo distributed more than 3,000 SM Kalinga packs to displaced residents in both towns.

The team turned over 2,000 SM Kalinga packs to the local government of San Mateo for efficient distribution to their constituents. Also, over 1,000 packs were distributed to evacuated families in Bgy. Rosario in Rodriguez, Rizal. In addition to this, Goldilocks through SM Foundation fills up evacuees with delicious hot meals in Bgy. Banaba in San Mateo.

Operation Tulong Express is a program of SM Foundation together with SM Supermalls and SM Markets as an immediate response to extend assistance to communities during calamities.

Due to the pandemic, this year’s Relay For Life was held virtually on the Philippine Cancer Society’s Facebook page last August 22.

#CheckThisOut CAFTANS BY SM WOMAN

If you want a break from the tees, jeans, and athleisure attire that have emerged as the OOTDs of this day, slip into the effortless ease of SM Woman’s stylish caftans.

A traditional garment of the Middle East, caftans – which were made of luxurious silks and embellished with ornate beading - were worn by Ottoman sultans and Moroccan dignitaries of centuries past. The caftan was later introduced to Western society and adapted in the 1950s and 60s by leading couturiers such as Cristobal Balenciaga and Christian Dior as a new form of evening gown.

Since then, it has become a favorite among fashion icons like Andre Leon Talley, the Olsens, and Rihanna, as well as editors, designers, and the glamorous set. And with more of us spending more time at home, Tory Burch, Dolce & Gabbana, Gucci, Pucci, as well as Lilly Pulitzer have included the caftan in their latest collections.

That’s because the caftan has a free-spirited ethos that feels equal parts luxurious and liberating, and its billowy, loose silhouette makes it so alluring.

The SM Woman caftan collection can work itself into an everyday wardrobe with ease. These mid-calf length caftans are, says Anthony Nocom, “made from quality charmeuse satin in floral prints that are cut with precision and good fit for women who want to feel good about themselves.”Nocom, who has worked on menswear for SM for many years, has since transitioned into designing caftans, as well as lounge dresses and sleepwear for the store. The best part is their price, which range from P599.00 to P699.00.

Perfect for lounging around the house, working from home, running errands, and meeting friends, the SM Woman Caftan and Lounge dress collection is available at selected SM Stores in Metro Manila and provincial cities.

Brother Philippines and SEA Institute donate to Batangas public schools

In line with its continued thrust to promote environment-friendly practices and provide support for underprivileged communities, Brother Philippines once again partnered with non-profit organization the SEA Institute to donate printers and toners to public schools in the town of Mabini, Batangas.

Brother Philippines team donates a laser multifunction printer, toner cartridges and bond paper to teachers of San Teodoro Elementary School in Mabini, Batangas last September 2020.

The donation, which was done in two legs in September and October 2020, saw eight public schools from Mabini each receive a Laser Multifunction Machine, toner cartridges, and reams of bond paper for the teachers’ and students’ needs. SEA Institute President Robert Suntay was personally present for the turnover of the donations.

The eight schools were:

  • San Teodoro Elementary School
  • Mainit Elementary School
  • Bagalangit Elementary School
  • Panay Elementary School
  • Mabini Central School
  • Mainaga Elementary School
  • Talaga Elementary School
  • Solo Elementary School

The first four schools were chosen by the SEA Institute for their location near Barangay San Teodoro in the town, in which the organization has a reef monitoring and alternative livelihood program for the community. The latter four schools were chosen through coordination with the Department of Education.

“We are extremely grateful to Brother Philippines for their generous donation of printers and toners to our partner schools in Mabini, Batangas,” said SEA Institute Activity Head Joseph Alfonso Ascalon. “These efficient and reliable laser printers will be a tremendous boost to the productivity and morale of the teachers in their pivot to modular lessons for their students. All the teachers were delighted with the capabilities of the printers and were confident that would be able to save valuable time.”

Brother Philippines first partnered with the SEA Institute in October 2019 for their Family Day and CSR activity. In its constant drive to do more for the environment, the company sought more relevant environment-friendly causes they could participate in, leading them to find SEA Institute and their marine conservation and community support objectives around the Verde Island Passage in southern Luzon.

5 Reasons Why Your Hair Might be Falling Out

Losing up to 100 strands of hair every day is normal. If your hair starts to shed more significant than usual, or if they do not grow back as they should, it can be a source of concern. Once the cause is detected, hair fall remedy or baldness cure for hair loss treatment can be easier.

While genetic condition like male pattern baldness is the main culprit for hair loss in the Philippines, the causes widely vary: genetic or hereditary hair loss, alopecia areata, male pattern hair loss and reactive hair loss.

What are the possible reasons why your hair is excessively shedding? Find out the 5 reasons why your hair might be falling out.

Reason 1: Hormonal imbalance

Hormonal imbalance can be a host of many health issues including those that manifest in physical appearances, like acne and hair loss. A byproduct of testosterone known as DHT or dihydrotestosterone, is the hormone responsible for hair loss, disrupting the hair growth cycle. It can either reduce the growing phase or increase the resting phase. Supplying your hair with a topical preparation of natural herbal extracts and essential oils may help address this.

Reason 2: Sudden Weight loss

Some degree of hair loss can happen upon rapid weight loss. Excessive hair shedding is one of the signs of nutrient deficiency. When calories and micronutrients are significantly reduced during your diet, these may trigger hair loss.

Reason 3: Pregnancy (Postpartum hair loss)

During pregnancy, your hair may look thick and healthy because of high levels of hormones. Once your baby comes out, your hair can immediately fall out all at once. That’s because your hormones are getting back to normal. This condition is called postpartum hair loss. Certain natural hair fall remedies for hair regrowth with herbal extracts and essential oils can help solve this.

Reason 4: Pills

Taking contraceptive pills can influence your hormones. Women who are predisposed to hormonal-related hair loss or especially sensitive to the hormonal changes, can experience hair loss while using the pills or after they stop taking them. Hair shedding caused by pills are usually temporary and can be treated by a natural topical scalp lotion rather than some home remedies for hair growth.

Reason 5: Age

As we age, hair health begins to change. Age can influence the life cycle of hair follicles, slowing the rate of hair growth. However, it is important to know that hair loss is a normal part of aging. But natural products with ingredients that help promote hair growth may be used to delay hair loss or better yet, address graying hair.

LRMC partners with Binhi English Literacy Foundation for learning program

In keeping with its advocacy of supporting nation-building through various initiatives, the Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC) has announced a new partnership with Binhi English Literacy Foundation, a non-profit and non-governmental organization, to aid struggling children in learning to read and write.

Through the partnership with Binhi Foundation, LRMC is adopting a Grade 2 class from Marcelo Marcela Elementary School in Pasay City and supporting the Beginning Reading Program for the 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 academic years. The school is located close to the LRT-1 EDSA station.

The Beginning Reading Program is an entire learning program for six (6) months designed to support children struggling to read and write at a relatively advanced age. The program aims to keep the children in school by improving their literacy skills, to foster a love for reading and improve comprehension skills, and to inculcate a love for learning that will inspire them to do better in school and subsequently improve their economic situation. The components of the curriculum include teaching tools (modules, activity sheets, various school supplies, instructional USB flash drive); assessments (pre-test, mid-test, post-test); monitoring of the students; inputs on lesson plans; evaluation and recommendation. It has also been modified and maximized for the online and modular learning setup required by the Department of Education given the pandemic situation.

“This English literacy support is a greatly-needed intervention program for our struggling readers. The effective strategies and learning kits provided by Binhi and funded by LRMC will surely bring the pupils’ much-sought enhancement in their English and reading skills,” said Marcelo Marcela Elementary School Principal Norma P. Jamon.

“At LRMC, we value learning and support an open culture where we are after developing our team members to reach their potential. In the same light, we are glad to help young Filipino children achieve their fullest potential and overcome learning challenges through our partnership with Binhi English Literacy Foundation. All of us can make a difference in whatever work we do, and this is our way of supporting the next generation by inculcating the value of education,” said LRMC Head of Corporate Communications and Customer Relations Jacqueline Gorospe.

Binhi English Literacy Foundation is an NGO founded in 2008 to help out-of-school children and students who are at risk of not completing their primary education due to absence of learning support in their homes and communities. Inspired by PRATHAM, an NGO in India which was responsible for helping more than 21 million underprivileged children, Binhi designed an intervention tool to improve reading and comprehension skills to achieve its vision of “Every Filipino Child in school and learning well.”

LRMC is a staunch supporter of education, spearheading previous initiatives such as the partnership with the PLDT-Smart Foundation’s Gabay Guro program in celebration of Teacher’s Month every year.
