Smart, YouTube team up to connect Filipinos to the world of video

PLDT wireless arm Smart Communications Inc. (Smart) is giving Smart, TNT, and Sun prepaid customers free access for one hour daily to YouTube and soon to other online video services starting today until July 15.

These subscribers can watch YouTube for one hour for free daily by simply registering to load packages like GigaSurf99, AllOutSurf99, GigaSurf 50, AllOutSurf 30, Panalo Data 30, Panalo Combo 30, Super Combo 20, and Big Time Data 70. They can enjoy this special offer for the duration of the packages that they buy.

“Through this path-breaking partnership, many more Filipinos can pursue their passions like music and entertainment, and learn a wide range of skills, hobbies, educational material, news and information through the massive library of video material of YouTube. This service is something every Filipino should have access to,” said Oscar A. Reyes, Jr., SVP of Consumer Business Market Development for PLDT and Smart.

"With this new offer, mobile phone users now have everyday access to the richest video library with content from every corner of the planet—for free,” Reyes said.   He added that this special promo will soon be available to postpaid subscribers as well.

“We are proud to partner with YouTube to bring the service closer to our customers. This is just the start of a fruitful partnership, and we are working on a lot of other exciting initiatives that will enhance the digital lifestyle of Filipinos,” Reyes said.

Aside from YouTube, another video service is also set to be part of the offer. Access to Smart360 (http://360.smart.com.ph), a web portal where Smart, TNT and Sun subscribers can access various digital content like live TV, movies, series, music and games, will soon be free for a limited time. Other video content providers are also eligible to be included in the offer, subject to mutually agreed terms with Smart.

Smart, TNT and Sun subscribers are now better able to enjoy video streaming services like YouTube as a result of Smart's massive network investments over the past several years which has enabled the mobile phone carrier to provide high-speed mobile data services via its expanded LTE and 3G networks throughout the country.

To provide customers with a better video and mobile internet experience, Smart is accelerating the deployment of LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) and carrier aggregation technology to more areas this year. Carrier Aggregation (CA), a feature of LTE-A, enables the combination of two or more radio frequency bands in order to deliver bigger bandwidth and much faster data speeds, which are crucial in providing the best video streaming experience to mobile phone users.

Smart has already rolled-out 3CC CA sites in cities across Metro Manila, as well as in major cities in other regions of the country, including Baguio, Calamba, Iloilo, Bacolod, Tagbilaran, Ormoc, Cagayan de Oro, Dipolog, Zamboanga, among others. In Metro Manila and areas where there is a concentration of capable devices, Smart is also deploying 4CC, starting with Marikina and Quezon City, where customers with 4CC CA-capable devices like the Samsung Galaxy S8 have reported enjoying data download speeds of over 200 Mbps.

Smart’s accelerated deployment of LTE-Advanced follows the stepped up roll out of its LTE network. It is also upping the ante by deploying another LTE-A based technology called 4x4 Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO), which raises the radio frequency efficiency by using multiple antennas for sending and receiving data.

Parent company PLDT has committed historic levels of resources to support network transformation. Capital expenditures reached P40 billion in 2017, of which about 67% was allotted for the mobile network. For 2018, PLDT capex is expected to reach P58 billion, which includes allocations for the aggressive roll-out of its fiber broadband service, which also supports the stepped-up deployment of the mobile network by providing high-capacity links for cellular base stations.

KZ, TJ showcase superb musicality in Vivo V9 mall tour

Singer KZ Tandingan earned new fans with her powerful performances during her stint on China’s high-rating TV show, Singer 2018. Although she did not make it to the finals, KZ made a mark with the Chinese audience, cementing her title as Asia’s Soul Supreme.

Now back in the Philippines, KZ performed for her fans at the SM Mall of Asia last April 22, Sunday, to support the launch of Vivo’s newest flagship smartphone, the V9 with a 24-megapixel AI selfie camera and more. It was her first public performance in the Philippines following her appearance on Singer 2018.

As the crowd roared in welcome, KZ belted out her signature hits like her cover of Lorde’s “Royals,” which she performed on Singer 2018, and Air Supply’s “Two Less Lonely People in the World.” She also sang her original songs, “Labo” and “Mahal Ko o Mahal Ako.”

Game face on! KZ always ready to give her all as she wowed fans with her topnotch performance at SM Mall of Asia on April 22, Sunday, for the Vivo V9 mall tour.

“We can’t wait to see what she’s going to do next,” Lim added.

TJ thrilled fans at SM Mall of Asia on April 22, Sunday, with his melodious, captivating hits.

The event was even made more special since acoustic balladeer TJ Monterde, KZ’s equally talented boyfriend and fellow Vivo endorser, performed for the event. He sang his own compositions, “Tulad Mo,” “Kahit Kunwari,” and “Ikaw at Ako.”

TJ also had nothing but praises for her girlfriend as she introduced her on stage and encouraged the mallgoers to cheer KZ on.

“KZ deserves a loud crowd,” he said.

Love birds do make great harmony.

After the pair answered questions from the press and gave away a brand new Vivo V9, they sang their hit duet, “Ikaw at Ako Pa Rin,” which made their fans overjoyed with kilig.

KZ and TJ then went around the Perfect Shot, Perfect View Vivo V9 mall tour experience booths and greeted Vivo V9 buyers and their fans after the program. The two also surprised mallgoers when they dropped by the Vivo kiosk at the SM Cyberzone.

2. Your kids will learn how to relate with others and build friendships

VBS also gives an opportunity for your kids to meet new friends! As they interact with each other and gain “new experiences” as a team, kids will learn how to value each other and work well with one another. This is a skill that will benefit them for the rest of their lives.

3. Your kids will grow in their relationship with God

Teaching kids about God’s Word and sharing with them the love of God is the most precious learning that they can get in a VBS.

With the songs and materials lessons that are call centered to on Godthe goodness of God, the kids will have the at opportunity during VBS to really know who Hethe Lord is in a very personal level way—as young as they are.

Proverbs 22:6 says, “Direct your children onto the right path, and when they are older, they will not leave it.” (NLT)

Now, who wouldn’t love to be a part of that? So if you are a parent, consider sending your kids to a Vacation Bible School near your place.! Ask your local church.

MILO Launches New Sports Programs for Schools and Barangays Nationwide

MILO Philippines continues its unwavering commitment to give the Filipino youth more opportunities to get into sports with the launch of their newest sports programs, the MILO Champ Camp and the Barangay MILO Liga. Over the next two years, these programs aim to bring sports closer to grassroot communities by engaging over one million students and 60,000 parents through the MILO Champ Camp and over 500,000 residents in 300 barangays with the Barangay MILO Liga.

Reinforcing sports in a child’s holistic development with MILO Champ Camp
For many years, MILO has had a longstanding commitment to support educational programs by providing students access to sports and encouraging them to lead active and healthy lifestyles. The MILO Champ Camp is a nationwide school tour that aims to spark the interest of students for sports and promote the importance of the values learned through it.

In partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd), the MILO Champ Camp will tap skilled youth coaches to teach elementary students the basics of basketball, volleyball, and football, while offering parents insightful talks on the value of getting their children into sports and the importance of giving proper nutrition and energy to start their day. This year, the MILO Champ Camp will roll out in 300 public schools in key cities around the country, estimating participation of 500,000 students and 30,000 parents.

Bringing sports closer to grassroots communities with Barangay MILO Liga. The Barangay MILO Liga seeks to elevate the yearly community-based tournaments during the summer break through the rehabilitation of facilities and sharing of MILO’s sports advocacy to residents of barangays across the country. By refurbishing basketball courts and mounting events that will unite the community and encourage children to participate in dynamic gameplay, Barangay MILO Liga will help Filipino youth become more active, and inspire residents to become more engaged in their communities.

The Barangay MILO Liga program, which spans 100 barangays in as north as Baguio and as south as General Santos City for its maiden year, also aims to modernize the community’s sports facilities, transforming them into MILO Courts of Values. Improvements to be made include repainting or restoration of basketball courts and supplying brand new sports equipment.

“All these efforts are being made so that the barangay’s young residents, and even children from surrounding communities and nearby schools will have access to well-conditioned sports venues and become inspired to go out and play. We want to encourage kids in the barangays to become more active through sports, and not be too consumed with their gadgets,” said Lester P. Castillo, MILO Sports Executive. “We envision Barangay MILO Liga to be a training ground for young athletes to pick up at least one sport, develop their skills, and hone their character as future champions. We are very thankful to the barangays who have partnered with us to rally behind this advocacy.”

The Barangay MILO Liga began mid-March and is set to culminate in their respective barangay tournament finals some time late April to May.

“We are very honored to have this meaningful partnership with MILO in advocating sports to the youth. Both the Barangay MILO Liga and the MILO Champ Camp are admirable programs that extends values education of children outside the classroom,” shared Usec. Atty. Tonisito Umali of the Department of Education.
