Last January 2019, Original Cake Taiwanese Castella Cake Shop opened its doors to the Filipinos in SM San Lazaro. Their cakes are made with simple and all-natural ingredients like egg, milk, vegetable oil, sugar and flour from Taiwan. Each fluffy cake uses the same ingredients as the perfect base and is baked fresh everyday in front of customers who quickly line up as soon as a tray of freshly baked cake is pulled out from the oven. Bakers shout “lai! dan gao chu lu wei! (来！蛋糕出炉喂！)” which literally means, “The cake is coming out of the oven!” in Chinese.
Original Cake started in 2010 as a single outlet from the scenic riverside of Tamsui Old Street, Taiwan and has grown to three outlets in Taiwan and expanded to countries such as Singapore, Indonesia and here in the Philippines.
What’s more? Last April 2019, Erich Gonzales has agreed and signed up to be Original Cake Philippines’s official endorser. This shows that Original Cake is here in the Philippines to stay!
To fulfill Original Cake’s vision to serve high-quality, freshly baked cakes to Filipinos everywhere, they will be opening more stores all across Metro Manila: SM City Manila, SM City Sucat and Robinson Galleria!

Chocolate Cake
Brimming over with rich chocolate smell and creamy mouthfeel, the dark bittersweet Hershey’s chocolate chips in the cakes not only convey rich chocolate flavor but teem with the magic of happiness. The cocoa powder used in this recipe is even imported from Holland to ensure the rich quality of chocolate taste.
Aside from cakes, there’s a limited edition crunchy treat which Original Cake produces in small batches. The Snowflake Crisp is made from the mix of superfoods cranberries and dates, combined with biscuits, marshmallows, mixed cream and milk powder which gives it that crunchy and chewy texture. It is sweet, a little milky, and crispy!
