November 11-12 may have been the most difficult days of residents in the towns of San Mateo and Rodriguez in Rizal this 2020 as Typhoon Ulysses left a massive destruction in their communities amid an ongoing pandemic. Violent winds, torrential rain and raging flood inundated houses, businesses and even took helpless lives. Residents fled to safer grounds even while the typhoon is ravaging the area.
True to its mission, the SM Operation Tulong Express is mobilized to bring aid to affected residents as quickly as possible. Together with Rizal Vice Governor Jun Rey San Juan, the SM City San Mateo team headed by Regional Operations Manager Engr. Dennis Martel and Assistant Mall Manager Sean Arroyo distributed more than 3,000 SM Kalinga packs to displaced residents in both towns.
The team turned over 2,000 SM Kalinga packs to the local government of San Mateo for efficient distribution to their constituents. Also, over 1,000 packs were distributed to evacuated families in Bgy. Rosario in Rodriguez, Rizal. In addition to this, Goldilocks through SM Foundation fills up evacuees with delicious hot meals in Bgy. Banaba in San Mateo.
Operation Tulong Express is a program of SM Foundation together with SM Supermalls and SM Markets as an immediate response to extend assistance to communities during calamities.
