A Bigger & Better Christmas with LG & Netflix

With the goal of providing a Bigger & Better Christmas for all, LG combined Filipinos’ love for the holidays with the brand’s mission of always giving back to the community.

Netflix unveiled the streaming service’s holiday film headliner, Klaus. The trailer for the destined Christmas classic, together with its behind the scenes footage, were all screened with the use of LG’s award-winning OLED TVs, the purchase of which comes with an accompanying gift of 6 months of Netflix.

Klaus, the headliner for Netflix’s holiday lineup, is an entirely 2D animated movie, a Netflix first, that harkens to the old Christmas shows we’ve come to know and love. Legendary actor J. K. Simmons provides the voice for the titular Klaus, a reclusive carpenter whom Jesper discovers living alone in a cabin, where he makes his own handmade toys. Like the movies of yore, Netflix hopes that Klaus becomes a Christmas tradition that’s destined to be replayed every holiday season for the years to come. LG also invited the Animation Council of the Philippines, Inc. (ACPI) to share their thoughts on the use of 2D animation in Klaus, how LG OLED TVs are the best platform to view it on, as well as to discuss the state of the local animation industry as a whole.

As an early Christmas present for the organization, LG Philippines donated LG TV. Inkwun Heo, LG Philippines’ Managing Director, recognized the importance of the ACPI’s role in the local industry and how their influence shapes the evolution of picture quality.

Another gift that LG has for the community during the holidays is the #ShareTheGoodLifewithLG campaign. As a way of giving back to the community, LG Philippines has dedicated a portion of each sale of an LG product to go towards furnishing the children of Shelter of Hope. More than that, LG has committed to donate home entertainment and home appliances worth more than Php 1Million. Shelter of Hope is currently building a new home for their resident children who are cancer patients and these gifts will provide much needed Christmas cheer. During the event, LG, Netflix, and the members of the media, in the spirit of Klaus, also brought gifts and toys to give to the children of Shelter of Hope. Just like what Klaus says, “A true selfless act, always sparks another.” ✨

LG Pushes the Limits with its Unique Original Technology R1 CompressorTM and Smart Inverter

As the leader in the HVAC industry, LG Electronics (LG) recently held a press conference at Solaire to formally introduce the brand-new 2020 line up for single commercial air conditioners (CAC).

Air-conditioning is integral to everyday life in the Philippines, owing to the tropical climate that can get blazing hot at times. However, according to the Global Competitiveness Report by the World Economic Forum (WEF), electricity in the Philippines ranks a lowly 92nd globally, meaning the price of electricity is very high. This makes air-conditioning not feasible for some households due to the costs involved. Recognizing this issue, LG, by applying innovative technology, has achieved a high-efficiency and cost-effective solution in the brand-new line up for single CAC.

LGs brand-new line up for single CAC, which are perfect for restaurants, small and medium-sized stores, and small and medium-sized offices, include the Floor Standing, the Ceiling Mounted Cassette, the 1 Way Ceiling Cassette, the Ceiling Suspended, and the Ceiling Concealed Duct. To attain high-efficiency and cost-effectiveness, the products are rigged with LGs revolutionary R1 CompressorTM and Smart Inverter.

The compressor used in the new line up is an LG-exclusive R1 Compressor with a shaft-through bottom compression structure. With its innovative technology, the R1 Compressor has resolved the endemic problem of a relatively low efficiency in the widely used rotary compressor and improves the tiling motion of scroll. By virtue of the compressor, it lowers the noise to 4dB and reduces its weight by 20%.

In comparison to other companies line up for single CAC, which is operated with a non-inverter compressor, all of LGs CAC is operated with the inverters. With the LG Smart Inverter, the annual price of electricity is expected to decline by 25% compared to an on/off model. Likewise, users can receive quick return on investment within 20 months by virtue of energy savings. Moreover, it enables air flow to cool in a long distance. Since the Floor Standing unit can reach up to 20 meters, it makes it possible to cool a room even though it is far from the unit. Furthermore, a five-step air cleaning feature reduces maintenance costs and makes upkeep simple and fuss-free. In terms of performance, it has a wide operation range as low as -15°C and as high as 48°C outdoor temperature.
After announcing the brand-new line up for single CAC, LG also introduced the Dual Vane Cassette, an upgraded version of the 4 Way Ceiling Cassette, and the Round Cassette which raised expectations and set the bar high. These products will be launched in the second quarter of 2020 after launching single CAC.

The conventional 4 Way Ceiling Cassette is equipped with four vanes, so it used to offer air flow in four ways. However, LG also introduced the Dual Vane Cassette which is equipped with innovative dual vane technology. Since the Dual Vane Cassette has eight vanes, it manages air flow more precisely and provides optimized air flow for users. Also, the Dual Vane Cassette allows users to choose six different modes, including three patented ones. Thus, it offers the best air flow over various spaces.

With a premium round design, the Round Cassette provides perfect circular air flow without any blind spot by minimizing junctions whereas a conventional round cassette has three outlets to provide three-way air flow with blind spots. In addition to that, unlike other brands round cassettes which controls wind direction in three steps, LGs Round Cassette is equipped with crystal vanes, enabling the user to control the direction in six steps. Moreover, the 3D fan increases air flow rate by 5% while lowering noise. With a larger air flow rate, cooling rate becomes 30% faster.

LGEPH, in partnership with Intramuros Administration, showcases history in an entirely different perspective in the newly opened Museo de Intramuros

History was made yet again as the Intramuros Administration (IA), the government agency tasked for the orderly restoration, management, development, and promotion of Intramuros as a national heritage, celebrated its 40th Anniversary in the recently opened Museo de Intramuros.

To celebrate the momentous occasion together with IA, LG Philippines made their presence felt as they simultaneously unveiled their newest line of state of the art OLED TVs, putting side by side our rich and colorful history together with tomorrow’s technology. LG PH Managing Director Inkwun Heo led the festivities as he formally handed over six (6) units of the LG TVs to the museum. Mr. Heo went on to say “This 2019 marks the 70th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the Philippines and the Republic of Korea. Throughout the seven (7) decades of friendship between the 2 nations, we’ve been championing the importance of culture. We at LG Philippines remain committed in doing our part to preserve and showcase Philippine history. We hope that through the integration of our industry leading OLED TV technology with riveting historically significant content, we are able to communicate to audiences, both old and new, the importance of Intramuros and Philippine history as a whole”.

Present during the event was Atty. Guiller Asido, Administrator of the Intramuros Administration, who was ecstatic about the educational possibilities of the TV donations. Referring to the event’s official hashtag #TheTVThatUnderstandsYou, he quips “I would like to rephrase our hashtag, this is not just the TV that understands you — it is the TV that understands the history and culture of the Filipino people.”

Also unveiled during the program was another gift of LG to IA: a special AVP made by TBA Studios, the creative geniuses behind local hit movies Heneral Luna and GOYO. The video which featured Museo De Intramuros was directed by JP Habac with cinematography by Pong Ignacio. Habac and Ignacio were awe-struck with how vivid the color rendition of the LG OLED TVs was. “Every bit of detail is seen the way it’s supposed to be seen. The dynamic range is really something to behold”, says Habac. LG commissioned the video featuring the Department of Tourism Sec. Bernadette Romulo-Puyat and museum curator Dino Santos to showcase the enchanting beauty of Intramuros through its crystal-clear OLED displays. You can watch TBA Studios’ masterful take on the Walled City.

LG’s newest line of TVs is powered by never before seen cutting-edge technology. With Deep Learning technology now embedded in their new α9 Gen2 & α7 Gen2 processors) – the TV, through intuitive recognition, can understand how to optimize and enhance the picture and sound for any content. The AI feeds on data and adapts accordingly, giving you the most optimal viewing experience possible. With the Deep Learning technology, the LG TV can understand how to display best picture quality from any source and resolution.
LG’s AI doesn’t just stop at picture quality. You can also talk to your TV. When you press the microphone button on your remote, LG’s ThinQ AI listens to your commands and executes them, even those based on an earlier “conversation”. From simple TV controls, weather questions, or you can create follow-up questions based on your initial command and the ThinQ AI will still carry-on the conversation. James Deakin, LG’s Brand Ambassador, gamely demonstrated the AI capabilities of the TV onstage, as he issued commands and questions one after the other. “This is as smart as smart TVs can get. LG is ahead of the game in pushing the boundaries of innovation and technology”.
If that wasn’t enough, LG’s flagship OLED TVs also have LG’s award-winning OLED Panel Technology that works seamlessly with Deep Learning Technology. Sound quality is boosted by an intelligent algorithm that can up-mix two-channel audio to deliver convincing virtual 5.1 surround sound. Deep learning significantly improves output by analyzing source content to produce enhanced sound effects in movies, deeper bass in music and clearer voices in sporting events. Users can adjust the sound to suit viewing conditions or let the TV set the best sound levels based on the environment.
High Dynamic Range (HDR) is made possible with the help of Dolby Atmos for incredibly realistic sound as the TV intelligently fine-tunes content compatible with Dolby Vision. The TV supports HDMI 2.1, allowing viewers the opportunity to enjoy 4K content at a blazing fast 60 frames per second. The TV also supports automatic low latency mode (ALLM), variable refresh rate (VRR), and enhanced audio return channel (eARC).
With the release of their flagship OLED TV, LG takes another step ahead in their vision of a truly interconnected smart home. As the Internet of Things grow day by day, LG has answered the call to provide personalized, proactive, efficient, and easy solutions, while seamlessly incorporating integrated multifunctional technology into your life. Powered by the ThinQ Artificial Intelligence technology, these innovations work together in sync and in perfect harmony, adapting to your needs every step of the way.

Yes, we’d like a serving of the new LG G7 ThinQ, please

LG Electronics Philippines finally unveiled the LG G7 ThinQ, its new flagship premium smartphone, at an exclusive launch recently event held at trendy bar and lounge Yes, Please.
Mr. Paul Jeon (center), LG Philippines’ VP for Mobile Communications, with Yugatech founder  Abe Olandres (left), and film director Mr. Mikhail Red (right)

Combining exciting innovations, a sleek design, and stunning display and sound with LG’s intuitive ThinQ AI technology, the G7 ThinQ takes the smartphone experience to unprecedented heights. The G7 ThinQ comes with a Super Bright 6.1-inch display that, at 1000nit is brighter than any other mobile phone screen. This, along with the phone’s AI-powered operational and creative features, a Quad DAC feature that provides distortion-free sound, and a hardworking camera, offers consumers a better user experience all around.

LG has always striven to provide products that makes the daily grind easier for its consumers. In the LG G7 ThinQ, this principle is reflected in the Hotkey, a button on the side of the phone that activates Google Assistant with one tap. Holding down the button will allow for instant conversations with Google Assistant, and will allow the user to search the internet, open applications and remotely use the phone on voice command (LG has worked with Google to come up 32 new Google Assistant commands). The G7 ThinQ also sports Super Far Field Voice Recognition, which allows it to hear commands for Google Assistant up to five meters away.

During the launch, LG invited gadget website Yugatech’s founder, Abe Olandres, to explain how the G7ThinQ’s AI-powered features can provide beneficial advantages to everyday life. As Abe explained, the phone’s AI CAM helps deliver an unprecedented smartphone photography experience by recognizing an object and automatically adjusting settings according to what it sees. The phone also has 19 different color and contrast filters to help enhance results. All these features combined makes capturing professional-quality images a truly effortless experience for everyone.

To fully display how the G7 ThinQ delivers the ultimate camera experience in a smartphone, LG commissioned a short video from up and coming director Mikhail Red, whose latest film Birdshot won the Asian Future Best Film Award at the Tokyo International Film Festival, and was the first Filipino full-feature film to be included in Netflix’s inventory. The video not only demonstrates Mikhael’s skill and dexterity as a director and photographer, but showcases how the LG G7 ThinQ’s camera delivers a higher range of details, more vivid colors and striking luminance when capturing both moving and still subjects. Mikhail’s video also demonstrated how the LG G7 ThinQ  enables the Super Bright Camera feature in a low-light setting, resulting in clearer, more focused images, or how the camera supports depth-of-field Bokeh effects with a Super Wide Angle feature.

Superior sound is also another G7 ThinQ boast. The flagship smartphone has a Boombox Speaker that, as demonstrated in the launch, increases the base sound level by more than 6dB with twice the amount of bass. Translated in layman terms, the LG G7 ThinQ packs more than 10 times the loudness than that of a typical smartphone.
